In Home Maternity Photoshoots - So Simple, So Brilliant

Pregnant women have a lot on their plate. From dealing with bodily changes to adjusting to a new lifestyle, these nine months of life can be challenging. I've had pregnant women flat out tell me they did not feel like leaving the house, which is why in-home maternity photoshoots are rising in popularity.

Stepping out of your home may feel like going out. Still, that feeling shouldn't stop you from memorializing one of your life's most important milestones. So, let's bring the photoshoot to your home, where you are the most comfortable.

Not only is in-home maternity shoots super comfortable, but they also allow you and your family to stay in a familiar environment which (in my opinion) always makes the photos better. Why? Well, typically, your home is a reflection of you. What you wear, your body language and your personality are all seen in your home. For example, a free-spirited person may have lots of soft textured fabrics, plants, and abstract art in the home. Comparably, a more stoic person may keep their home simple with clean lines, minimalist style art, and muted tones. This observation may not be the case for every home, but I find that most people sprinkle at least a bit of their personality into their home, making it the perfect background for your maternity photos.

But is it truly a professional photo shoot if it's at home? Of course, it is! Being at home is a fantastic addition to your professional shoot, don't think of it as anything less because I won't. We still go through the same process as if we were shooting outdoors or at a studio. The pre-consultation, wardrobe, location, lighting, and posing remain some of the most critical factors in creating a memorable photo session, which is mainly my responsibility. There is absolutely no reason to compromise the quality of a session simply because it is taken place in a home.
